4-Year-Old Writes Card To Her Dead Mother, Gets Unexpected Response

A young girl tragically lost her mother to cancer. However, this did not stop her from writing an adorable Mother’s Day card and posting it to her mother “in heaven” in the Royal Mail in the United Kingdom. While everyone told the girl that her mission to speak to her mother was hopefully, the little girl was over the moon when a response came back in the mail from beyond the grave.

Four-year-old Ella Lennon from Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, addressed her Mother’s Day card to her deceased mother to “Mummy in heaven” and dropped it into the letterbox. It was her first Mother’s Day since cancer took the life of her beloved mother, Jennifer.

As it turned out, a staff member at the Royal Mail saw Ella’s letter and decided to write back, telling the little girl how proud her mother was of her.

Ella’s aunt, Linda Ross, shared the heartwarming exchange on social media so other people could revel in the stranger’s kindness and love for all things good in the world.

Jennifer (pictured) died in December after battling a brain tumor for the last four years.

Linda posted the following on social media:

“On my sister’s 1st heavenly Mother’s Day, Ella sent her mummy a card. Today a kind stranger from the Royal Mail used their time to reply and make a little girl so happy! Her face lit up with the biggest smile. Just shows the amazing people in this world! Can’t thank you enough!”

The card that Ella chose to send her mother featured the Despicable Me theme. It shows a picture along with the line, “You’re one in a minion, Mum!”

When the Royal Mail employee saw Ella’s note, which was address: “To Mummy in heaven. Happy Mother’s Day. I love you, Ella x” they felt called to respond and make the little girl very, very happy.

The reply to Ella’s card came just two days after she posted it to the Royal Mail. It read:

“To my beautiful Ella. Thank you so much for my very special Mother’s Day card. You’re on in a million to me, and I love you very, very much. Millions and billions and trillions are how much I love you! You are growing up to be a very clever and special big girl, and I am so proud of you. And even though I am in heaven, I watch over you every day!”

The empathetic and kind Royal Mail worker signed the letter, “Lots of love, hugs and kisses, Mummy xxx.”

The mail worker even used the return address as an opportunity to impress Ella.

“Mummy, 1 Angel Gate, In the Clouds, Heaven.”

People were impressed with the Royal Mail worker’s response and shared their delight on Twitter.

“I just cried at this.”

“OMG, this is the sweetest thing ever.”

Losing a mother is very devastating for a child. Thankfully this mail worker seized the opportunity to bring a smile to a grieving little girl’s face.

What do you think about the letter? Are you impressed?
