A mentally disabled woman was reportedly sexually abused by a group of teenagers, and the story sparked outrage after video of the incident was shared on social media.
The video reportedly showed four boys tearing the young woman's clothes off and abusing her through laughter. None of the passengers intervened, and the bus driver did nothing to stop the abuse.
The 24-year-old Moroccan woman, News 24 reported, did not report the incident to police before the video was released. M'Dina Bus, the company that owns the bus on which the attack occurred, condemned the assault and said it was cooperating with authorities investigating the matter.
Hindustan Times reported that authorities arrested six teenage boys in connection to the crime. The boys were arrested for their "presumed implication in the woman's aggression."
A Moroccan charity called Don't Touch My Child implored witnesses to come forward and aid in the investigation surrounding the abuse to "bring to justice this barbaric horde who shamefully attacked a young [woman]."
Though many were outraged by the incident, some responses focused on the woman's attire rather than the attack itself.
"I condemn the act but cover yourselves up, this one was easy to undress," one social media user commented, Hindustan Times reported.
Others, however, were horrified by what occurred, and called for the individuals who abused the girl to be severely punished.
"After no one did anything to stop it and then to blame the young lady? Bulls**t those thugs will probably get away with it too! Just like here in the US! Just because of how she was dressed! Bulls**t those thugs need to be beaten to death! They have no idea how to live like humans!!" one Mad World News reader commented on the site's Facebook page.
"I am ashamed. I can't believe they actually sat their without trying to help. I must say this again, 'Give your children a way to protect themselves, especially your girls.' I wish I had been there, I'm afraid I would have shot every one of them and of course I would be the one going to prison," another wrote.
"How many more of this do we Americans put up with before we start killing them look gov you can and should have already stopped this these rapes are all on your shoulders. For doing nothing you know what's comming if something isn't don't to stop these rapes beatings assult by our enemys in our own country now do something," another added.
