The suspect, a 20-year-old woman, was identified because of the vehicle she left behind. The Trump supporter was able to find out the identity of the vandal because her abandoned car tipped off police officers.
The avid Trump supporter, Bentley, stated: "We want him to be elected again in 2020, and we wanted to give our support for him."
On Monday at about one in the morning, Bentley’s security cameras captured the entire incident. The accused's car had driven through his barbed-wire fence, and due to the momentum, she was able to knock over a brightly-colored cube.
The security footage showed the 20-year-old woman spray-painting the Trump sign.
However, the suspect soon found herself in a predicament because as she tried to get away from the crime scene, she discovered that her car was stuck. She quickly opted to leave it behind, as she had no other choice.
The property owner stated that it would have been very difficult for them to identify her if it were not for her car.
He said, "If the car hadn't been here with the tag on it, and we just had video of the person, it would have been really tough."
The woman was identified by police officers, who stated that they would charge her with criminal trespass and failure to report a crash.
Bentley was annoyed that his property was trespassed and vandalized.
He said, "It really irritates me. I believe people should be able to protest, but not on my property, you know?"
He estimated that the damages to his property would probably cost thousands of dollars to repair.
