Man Throws Girlfriend's Toddler Into Boiling Water (Photos)

A toddler was brutally thrown into a boiling tub by his mother's boyfriend because he soiled his pants.

Daniel Rose was watching his girlfriend's son, Korbin Edwards, when the boy soiled his pants - prompting 32-year-old Rose to put him into a tub of boiling water. The boy was rushed to the hospital with third-degree burns that caused damage to his stomach and bowels. He was not expected to make it through the night, but the 2-year-old survived.

As a result of the burns, he was forced to use an N-tube, catheter and IV for weeks. Doctors informed his mother that he would never walk again, but with time and encouragement he was able to relearn.

"I was really scared when I first saw his skin," his mother, DJ Gilbert, told Mirror.

"It was bright red and white from where it was peeling off, large chunks of skin where missing. I found out he had third degree burns across half of his belly, all his waist, his genitals, butt and most of his legs. Doctors told me there was a chance he wouldn't make it and that that if he did, he would need major skin grafting, as well as it being unlikely he would ever walk again."

"They thought it was a miracle that he had made it through and survived. But due to the severity of his burns, his bowels and stomach were messed up," the mother added.

"He couldn't eat, drink, go to the bathroom on his own or anything – it was very hard to watch. He needed a feeding tube, an IV and a catheter for three weeks, even then he couldn't eat solids for a long time. But he kept getting better and better, and despite being told he may never walk again he's proved everyone wrong, he is a very strong little boy."

Rose was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the crime of first-degree assault.

"I would never have thought he could have done something like this, there were no red flags to show that he would hurt me or the kids," Gilbert said. "He was in the army and people from the military are good guys, I thought he was a trustworthy person."

Many readers questioned the mother's judgement in regard to her boyfriend, and how she could have trusted him with her son.

"My question is, " what under GODS blue sky did the mother see in this man?" Look at him.... This man has no soul. When you look into his eyes there is nobody home ! Why would you leave an innocent baby at home alone with this monster? And I'm sorry, but by you leaving him alone with this monster, you aren't much better than him," one Mad World News reader commented on the site's Facebook page.

"Are these mothers so desperate for a man they'll take anyone in and then let them watch their kids. These poor kids they have no one protecting them!!! They should lose the kids. Interesting mom has a job, but boyfriend does not. That should say a lot!!!" another added.
